Greek-Style Moussaka
Ingredients:
Eggplant, sliced
1 onion, diced
4 cloves garlic, chopped
8 oz. tomato sauce
1 lb. ground turkey/pork
¼ cup parmesan cheese
Bechamel Sauce: ½ t. butter, 2 T. corn flour, 2 cups milk, salt to taste, paprika, pinch nutmeg
Spices: 2 t. oregano, 2 t. paprika, 2 t. parsley, 1-2 t. cayenne pepper, salt to taste, pinch cinnamon
Method:
- To make sauce , melt butter in saucepan. Add corn flour over a low flame. Then add milk.
- Stir constantly until sauce begins to thicken. Add other spices to season sauce.
- In frying pan, fry eggplant until well cooked. Set aside. Fry onions until browned.
- Add ground meat, and stir until cooked. Add garlic, tomato sauce, spices to meat mixture.
- In casserole dish, layer eggplant, meat mixture, béchamel sauce. Repeat this process, topping with parmesan cheese.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes until browned.
