Green Masala Meat/Chicken Curry

Ingredients:
4 chicken breasts/lamb, diced
1/3 cup of grated fresh coconut
2 large onions
1 large tomato (chopped)
6 - 8 cloves of garlic (peeled)
2 inches of ginger
2 - 3 green chillies
Spices: 1 t. whole black pepper, 1 t. white poppy seeds, 4 - 5 pieces of cloves, 1/2 inch of cinnamon stick, a small piece of anise flower, 4 - 5 T. of kundapur chilli powder, 1 t. tamarind paste, 2 cups coriander leaves, salt to taste, oil.

Method:

  1. Roast the coconut till dark brown. Place this in the blender jar.
  2. Chop 1 onion and saute with little oil for a few minutes.
  3. Add garlic, ginger, green chillies, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon and anise flower. Saute till onion is brown.
  4. Add poppy seeds. Cook 2 more minutes. Add coriander leaves. Fry for a few minutes. Turn the heat off & let it cool,
  5. Place this in the blender jar and add 2 to 3 tbsp. of chilli powder and tamarind paste. Grind to a fine paste.
  6. Chop the remaining one onion and fry with little oil in a large pot. Add chopped tomato.
  7. Cook for a few minutes and add the ground masala.
  8. Add chicken & salt. Cook on medium heat for about 30 to 40 minutes adding water as needed.
